SASS Newsletter

The sapphic holiday campaigns issue.

Welcome to the special holiday campaigns issue, where we highlight some of the incredible holiday campaigns taking place in the sapphic literary community this holiday season.

The holiday season is upon us, and however you celebrate, we hope you’re finding time for some personal joy. What do the holidays look like for you in these difficult times? Please share your experiences on our Facebook group, Bluesky, or Instagram.

Holiday Campaigns

SWAG4GCLS

We’re in the home stretch of SWAG4GCLS’ November fundraiser and it’s been an amazing first year for this peer-to-peer campaign!

To date, SWAG4GCLS participants have raised over $7000, with 57 individuals participating and 5 teams. Currently, authors Rachel Lacey, Kris Bryant and E.J. Noyes are the top three fundraisers and the Writing Academy Winners led by Finn Burnett are leading the teams with Team SASS in second place.

But there’s still time to support our authors and teams and, with a week left in November, a lot can change in the lineup!

So go to the SWAG4GCLS page and support your favorite authors and teams!

GCLS/SASS Holiday Gift Campaign

#SapphicBooksAreGifts

We’re excited to launch our seasonal community project: #SapphicBooksAreGifts, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Looking for a meaningful gift this holiday season? Pass along the comfort of a sapphic book to someone who’ll appreciate it. We invite you to join us in uplifting sapphic literature throughout the holiday and winter seasons. You can participate by gifting sapphic books, recommending your favorite titles, or sharing the stories that have stayed with you.

If you’d like the pre-made templates for this campaign, email Becks by Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025.

We look forward to seeing everyone use the hashtag #SapphicBooksAreGifts for posts and stories throughout the month as readers share the books they receive. Don’t forget to update your profile with links to your books so new readers can find you easily.

Jae’s Sapphic Book Advent Calendar

Jae is running the popular Sapphic Book Advent Calendar again this year. This year’s Advent calendar features 110 sapphic books that are free, on sale, or part of a giveaway. Doors will start to open on December 1st, but you can already enter a giveaway for book gift cards and sign up for reminder emails here so you don’t miss anything during the event. During the big finale on December 24th and 25th, the doors will be filled with dozens of sapphic books. Here’s to a holiday season full of cheer and great sapphic books!

Top 5 Things to Do in December as a Supporter of the Sapphic Reading Community

1. Buy directly from small and mid-size publishers whenever possible.
Your purchase makes a bigger impact when it goes straight to the presses that champion sapphic stories. [This means you truly own the download files for your book, rather than just licensing them through certain e-reader platforms.]

2. Shop local and ask your favorite independent bookstores to carry sapphic authors.
Requesting titles helps shops discover new writers and expands access for other readers.

3. Leave a sincere, positive review or make a post about a book you love.
Reviews and social posts help authors reach new audiences. Don’t forget to tag the author, publisher, and voice narrator(s) if applicable.

4. Consider supporting your favorite authors on Patreon, your favorite Sapphic nonprofits, and your local Sapphic support groups.
Even small monthly contributions help authors continue creating the stories you care about. We invite you to consider donating to these nonprofits – Golden Crown Literary Society, ReadOUT, and Lambda Literary Society.

5. Request sapphic books through Libby and OverDrive.
Library requests show demand, boost circulation, and ensure more readers can discover sapphic literature.

The SASS newsletter provides our community with information, analysis, resources, and even short sapphic fiction to keep us informed, mobilized, and connected. By working together to defend our community, our literature and our livelihoods, we can surmount the obstacles placed in our path and thrive!
